Here is the dob's side view showing one of the knob's for the tension screen. It's well balanced without them, I purchased it second hand, the teflon looks, like it might have been cut a little bit on the altitude to increase friction. I do notice when I mount both the finder and a telrad it's a bit out of balance. I am more of a telrad person and I can always add a fan or weight to offset things a bit. But, it works just fine as is.
Here is the underside showing the pivot bolt in place, the four holes on the corners
were pre-existing, no clue what they are, don't really care. I would smooth and
fill them if they bothered me, I figure more holes, less weight to carry.
I turned the tube to the point where the side of the tube reaches it's lowest point to
see how much room I had for the encoder mounted on top of the new pivot bolt, not going
to be a problem at all with space, I can easily still add a fan if I want to. I placed
a VHS box for some perspective in scale.
This is the Alt placement, it's a bolt with a knob on the end for the tension springs.
I don't really need the springs, everything is pretty well balanced and have some decent
friction to hold things in place yet still fairly easy to move around.

I am going to hit the hardware store and see what type of bolts they have in stock
and maybe get creative. If I cant find anything suitable, I can bond some type of
1/4" bushing to it and tap a small hole for a set screw. (and make a backup just
in case)
